Samsung Galaxy Nexus Review

Design
The Samsung Galaxy Nexus has kept its original curves found in the Nexus S with a curved frame and slim rounded edges. The new Google Galaxy Nexus has been stripped of all buttons and can only be controlled by the on screen touch display. Although the mobile phone is curved and slender the camera tends to be pushed out however because it’s a 5 megapixel camera we can accept that its not too flush and will come back to its camera quality further below.

Now the figures, the Galaxy Nexus is 7mm at its thinnest which is quite slim considering the actual mobile phone is as large as the HTC Sensation XL, however the touch screen display is 4.65” and its super AMOLED HD so the size is easily justified especially if they have made it very thin where possible.

Despite all the features, 2 cameras and the latest android software, the Samsung Nexus only weighs 135g which is actually lighter than an Apple iPhone 4S, I am sure we have all held one of these, if not go and hold one.

Camera
The 5 megapixel camera integrated into the Nexus has lower spec then its main competitors: The iPhone 4S and Samsung Galaxy S2 which both sport 8 megapixel cameras. However anybody who knows photography will tell you that megapixels are not everything, the front facing camera is a great addition for people who love to video call their buddies and the video recording mode is perfect combined with the 1080p playback.

Software – Android Ice Cream Sandwich
We all have been awaiting the latest version of Android and the Galaxy Nexus will be the first phone to run on this new software. Ice Cream sandwich is the successor of Gingerbread. A few cools features offered in this new system is the unlock screen which can be unlocked by face recognition which we think is awesome. You also have the option to send automated messages if you miss phone calls such as “I’m busy right now” or “im on my boat” if you’re out to sea.
